Takashi Miike to direct "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney" Movie!!!

HELL. FUCKING. YES.

Takashi Miike – one of Japan’s most prolific and unusual filmmakers – has signed to direct the live-action adaptation of “Ace Attorney” video games. For a stateside comparison… I don’t know that there is one, but it’s pretty damn awesome.

For reference, here’s two examples of what tends to happen when Miike dips into material of this nature: The trailers for the anime-adaptation “Yatterman” and “Zebra Man 2: Attack on Zebra City”:

Awesome.

    Wow, first comment… that's different.

To me, this just oozes awesome. I love Mike's stuff. The man is insane! But in that good way that everyone secretly wishes they were. I think the only man who could take something like this and make a movie out of it and have it turn out right is Mike.

I mean, if he could make Yatterman work as a movie… well that really destroys all limitations doesn't it?

PS. Really want Zebraman 2 on DVD! Tokyoshock, onegai!!!!

Zebraman looks way cooler than anyone who calls himself Zebraman has the right to be. Then again, if there's a Spiderman and a Batman, why not a Zebraman??
Also, did I just hear “zebrabeam”?
    Awesome.

I can't wait to see the effects used for the “OBJECTION!”

A Phoenix Wright movie would be absolutely awesome, though this director's style seems a bit over-the-top even for this series.

I wonder if they'll base it on cases from the games or make up a new case for the movie…

I have been meaning to explore more of Miike's work, specifically the original Zebraman that I've had laying around for the past few months, and I agree that his over-the-top stuff looks excellent. Maybe this will help repair some of the indignation on my part over the apparently fumbled remake of Harakiri, one of the greatest samurai films ever made.

I don't know much about Miike, but hell fucking yes, I want to see an Ace Attorney film! I totally agree with RestamSalucard, David Tennant has to play him. However, I think he should find himself a damn good dialect coach so he can pull off a much more effective American accent than that abysmal one in the pilot of that “Rex Is Not Your Lawyer” show he was gonna be doing awhile back.

Huh. I always thought of him as a horror director. I couldn't even imagine him directing a Yatterman movie….

“When they were finished piecing together the doronjo gang, there was still an extra foot, eye, and toung.
