Lollipop Chainsaw

Many of you have already seen this, but just in case: here’s what happens when Suda51 (creator of “No More Heroes” and “Killer 7”) and James Gunn (writer/director of “Sliver” and “Super”) team up to make a video game that resembles an anime-infused parody of “Buffy”…

I think what makes this perfect is the rainbow/sprinkle stuff – like it’s rubbing the absurdity of the “hot chick monster slayer” fetish in the faces of it’s usual intended audience.

I was really disappointed with Shadows of the Damned. I love Suda, don't get me wrong, but I'm a bit skeptical about this project.

I hope it turns out alright, but for me I'm gonna wait for the Silver Case to come to 3DS.

The problem with “rubbing the absurdity of the 'hot chick monster slayer' fetish in the faces of it's usual intended audience” is that the end product will still looks to have a good deal of titilation in it for those who want it, just judging by the trailer. Do we have to have the upshirt shots?

Whether this will be good will really depend on whether it's an actual ironic deconstruction of pulpy fanservice genres (ie Sucker Punch) or it its just a genre that just DOES those things and then says “It's ironic!” (Duke Nukem)

I love Suda 51, and have enjoyed ever James Gunn movie I've seen (Super is the best).

I can't wait for this game but I can't help thinking this might just turn out to be an ironic Onechanbara knock off. Having said that I know the Onechanbara games suck (at least the ones I've play) so maybe Lollipop Chainsaw will be a perfected version.

also James Gunn made Slither not sliver.

So…Buffy the Vampire Slayer with all of the substance and the feminism replaced with “grindhouse” wannabe bullshit and anime sparkles?

Yeah, this looks duller than Hearse Simulator 2000. If that trailer is any indication, this thing is no smarter, more original or more ironic than Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball. Making your generic piece of crap out as ironic no-holds-barred OMG OSSUM fun is just another cold marketing ploy with a bit of pre-emptive critic-proofing thrown in.

Zombies have recently been developers' “flavor of the week” and Suda 51 doesn't do “flavor of the week”.

Sorry Bob but Chainsaw Lollipop looks like the Alice in Wonderland to Suda's Tim Burton. You can barely smell his special brand of craziness. Now here's some Grand A Prime Suda 51 Mindf@#kery right there:

I like James Gunn and I kinda-sorta in theory like Suda. What I don't like, however, is this trailer BECAUSE IT'S FUCKING STUPID.
Seriously. Compared to this abonimation, other faux-feminist drivel like Sucker Punch looks like something written by Margaret Atwood – and just to be clear: Sucker Punch was bad.

Oh, and something for all my fellow commenters dissing Buffy, Whedon or Feminism:
    Go fuck yourself.

I can not wait to play this game. Running around as a blonde cheerleader in barely anything killing zombies with a chainsaw, with decent controls it could be the next bayonetta.
