To those who say that Jay Leno traffics in bland, pandering, safe, tired comedy; you should know that as of two minutes ago Mr. Leno marked his return to the Tonight Show – after one of the most tumultuous and material-ripe back and forths in TV history – with a parody of the “…and you were there!” bit from The Wizard of Oz.
So… um… there? 😉
Please let it appear on Hulu in the next week.
Need to get back into late night stuff.

Bob, not all of us are as steeped in knowledge and nerdom (that's a compliment) as you: what are you referring to? I've never heard of the “and you were there” bit from the Wizard of Oz.

Anonymous #2: The “And You Were There Bit” is any parody or variation on the ending scene of “The Wizard of Oz” in which Dorothy, having followed the instructions of the Good Witch Glinda on how to get home, finds herself awake in her bed, surrounded by her family and friends from the farm. Believing herself to have awoken from a dream, she begins describing it to them. She recognizes the farmhands as looking remarkably similar to the Lion, the Scarecrow, and the Tin Man she encountered in Oz, and points to them one by one, saying “And you were there…and you…”.
This scene has been parodied ENDLESS times by thousands of cartoons, other movies, TV Shows, Comic Books…you name it, they've parodied it.
I hope you find this information helpful. 🙂

LMFAO!! (first time I've ever needed to use that)
Are you saying Leno forges his spirit in the tradition of his ancestors and He deserves our gratitude?
