in other news that I'm sure bob will somehow find a way to spin as a negative, the new uncle ben will be played by MARTIN FUCKING SHEEN.

This makes Ben the latest in an ever growing list of characters whose new actors are orders of magnitude more competent than their predecessors.

    @Dave,

Martin Sheen is a good choice. Whether or not he's a “superior” Ben Parker is a matter for the script, mostly. So I'm not gonna hold my breath on that one, remembering how these particular script “suggestions” worked out last time…

But if you want to play the “better actor” game, fine. I'm not sure what it proves – Michael Keaton is, demonstrably, a better actor with more range than Christian Bale, WHICH was the better Batman again? But okay…

Top of my head, I'd say Cliff Robertson is a better actor than Sheen. That's not to say Sheen isn't good, but let's get real: he gave ONE truly excellent performance. One. Granted, it was in “Apocalypse Now” which is more than anyone else can say, but still. Otherwise he's been solid, occasionally terrible (“Spawn”) and mostly known for brave activism, being a really great guy, being Charlie and Emilio's dad and most-of-all for his instant-gravitas voice.

And face it, that's the ONLY reason he's in this: because “the motto” is going to sound awesome in his voice in the trailers. I mean, I'm sure Webb and the cast are all psyched to work with a legend for however long it takes him to collect his check (dollars to donuts he'll also make extra coin doing voiceover for the shitty video game tie-in) but that's all he got hired for.

Ahhh, to be 15. That part of life between boy and man when your imagination is full of possibilities and not brought down by the rather depressing realizations of being an adult.
I guess you could say the same thing about age with most video game developers. It's part of the reason why I love Suda51 and ,of course, Miyamoto.

God I love the way Snyder composes his films, especially the way he uses colors.

The plot sounds a lot like what I imagine “Imagination is the Only Escape” will be like, at least from what I've heard. (Imagination is a game about a Jewish boy who experiences the horrors of the holocaust and uses his imaginings as escapism). Or, at least they operate on the same central story mechanic, seemingly.

    Nice little bit of synchronicity.

Isn't it interesting that the only way to get funding for a film that is designed like a videogame is to have it not absed off a videogame. If you're amking a film based on a videogame it better be based on movies.

This movie is a total juxtaposition.

What if you crossed coyote ugly with insane asylums, nazis, and lord of the rings? All of it coming across as a little too much and weird even for my tastes.

I mean as much as I like Zack Snyder, this movie just doesn't seem to have any sense of focus or theme to it, and that's something I've come to expect a lot from him.

A juxtaposition can sometimes be cool, like pitting ninjas against cowboys, cowboys against aliens, or the classic pirates vs. ninjas, but this movie doesn't seem to get the whole point behind that purpose.

First off, I see no credibility in pitting a bunch of valley girls against the stuff of video games. I mean this movie is what you would get from Kristen Bell's dream after she spent all night playing Dragon Age: Origins and Castle Wolfenstein, and I can never imagine Kristen Bell playing those type of games or any game in general.

When you crossed things in movies, there has to be at least some sort of connection. The context of the story has to at least try and make it believable on how it could happen.

-Pirates and ninja's did exist around the same time, and they both did use swords.

-Who is to say aliens could only visit earth recently, why couldn't they try invading during Roman times?

-Zombies in the wild west? How can that not work? I mean there were viruses back in those days, and dead bodies too.

Now try crossing nazis and dragons, and then throw in some pussycat dolls…0o

Of course you can argue that I'm just being closed-minded. But in the end we're all close-minded to a point, and this just ain't working for me.

    =/

I could watch this all damn day…so I probably will.

It just hit me that this movie will basically be the polar opposite of 300. Instead of super macho (or if you will, mantastic), scantily clad musclemen, it's super hot scantily clad girls.

So this is the movie Emma Stone backed out of for 'Easy A', huh? Well, I guess the lack of a smoking hot redhead will keep this from the top of my wet dream list, but oh well, can't have everything.
@Alexander: I couldn't have put it better myself.
What I wanna know is: what is that song in the second half?
