"Cabin in The Woods" FINALLY Has a Trailer

Put together by Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard YEARS ago but shelved when MGM collapsed, “Cabin in The Woods” is finally coming out. You should just watch this trailer. Now. Without any other context:

That’ll do.

Holy. Shit. This is FINALLY coming out? Man, I first started anticipating this in fucking 2008. Holy crap, so psyched.

Also, I'm getting a bit of the same vibe that I got from the John Dies At The End trailer (and book to some extent). I sense a lengthy cultural debate about which movie is better between people who liked Bubba Ho-Tep and people who liked Buffy. With people like me, who like both, caught in the middle.

Except that Bubba Ho-Tep was good because it was a horror movie version of meditating on mortality and the definition of “truth”. I loved it, but I don't think this “Cabin” movie is going to have any similar themes other than mood.

@Ryan: It's not going to have the same themes as Bubba Ho-tep, but I already see some in this trailer. In most horror films, the victims are punished for their immorality by a lone, invincible psychopath. Here it looks like they're being preyed upon by “the establishment”.

Scooby Doo with a brown guy (instead of brown dog), in the cabin from Evil Dead, transplanted to Crystal Lake, with a Phillip K Dick-ian “system” twist.
I'll probably watch it on cable.
