I can't tell if this movie is supposed to addressing the the impending existential mid-life crises for Gen X, or a coming-of-age “Reality Bites” for Gen Y.
I don't care if it's a clunker or not. Steve Carrell is in it and there is a Talking Heads song in the trailer… as far as I'm concerned, win conditions have been satisfied.
Yea……
Looks like we found our “Little Miss Sunshine” for the year…..or is it “Juno”…..or “Garden State”….

I saw Melancholia and was thinking, “I hope a boy in green clothing comes along soon and summons the giants.”

I saw Melancholia and thought 'Man, how did this not get an Oscar nod?'
And also 'I MAY have been wrong about Lars von Trier' but then only movie of his I'd seen previously was Antichrist.

If it's a mainstream comedy, the rule is that the apocalypse has to be diverted at the last minute in a very slapstick-y way.
And now that I think about it, I'm fine with that. Apocalypses are played out in fiction.

I can see that happening.
Or the apocalypse is averted and everybody ends up having to face the consequences of their really bad decisions.
I imagine Steve Carrell winning the love of his life back only to survive armageddon and remembering why he can't stand her.

This trailer is as much an affront to Talking Heads as Melancholia's was to Wagner.

Clearly there is no god, as no god like being would allow this to happen in any universe.

Cute! Love Patton Oswalt's brief appearance. Between his stage comedy, YOUNG ADULT and other film & TV roles, that guy is killing it.
