I’m the guy on the Internet who doesn’t reflexively hate Seth MacFarlane. His shows can be hit-or-miss, but he’s ridiculously talented in his own right and when he’s “on” he and his ‘family’ of writers/actors routinely pull off some great stuff. In any case, he’s now branched out into feature films; and his debut feature – shocker! – centers around a lovable jerk whose best buddy is a thing-that-should-not-talk-or-act-like-a-human-and-yet-does voiced by MacFarlane himself:
The “big idea” is that it’s the hypothetical sequel to every “boy and his magical friend” story ever: Mark Wahlberg’s character wished his Teddy Bear to life as a child, but now it’s two decades later and his “magical adventure pal” is now his “magical perpetually-adolescent-troublemaker-who-gets-in-the-way-of-his-relationships pal.”
I think it looks hysterical. I love that Ted’s design is just “basic bear,” and MacFarlane-alumni Kunis is always fun in these things.
MOVIEBOB CENTRAL 
Yeah some of the things in his shows are really funny, but on the whole they aren't that great. But he is an amazingly smart and funny person, not to mention good at singing and great with voices, so I'll be excited for this.

MacFarlane is talented, the problem is that people judge him based on Family Guy, when he's essentially given up on that show and let it go into auto-pilot to generate easy money while he pours real creative energy into 'side' projects like American Dad (Which has consistently gotten better and better as family guy has gotten worse)

sadly this just looks like all the stuff I don't like about MacFarlane's TV shows but in movie form, ah well it wasn't meant to be, I gotta say though those bear animations were pretty crappy

Looks alright. I know Seth has had this idea for a long time but yeah the resemblance to Wilfred is kind of uncanny, especially the scene with the bongs.

Wilfred ultimately improves an initially un-charming loser from behind the scenes.
Ted apparently holds back an initially charming loser and other people know it.
The fact that they are juvenile is just common ground.

I love me some Seth McFarlane! For a while, yeah, it looked like he was going the way of Joss Whedon, spreading himself out creatively over three shows, while letting the one that got him popular in the first place (Buffy for Whedon, Family Guy for McFarlane) drift rudderless while he worked on his newer shows.
But now it seems McFarlane is back as FG has gotten better since the last few seasons. The Cleveland Show is pretty much Mike Henry's show now. And American Dad seems to have finally found its footing after being lacking for the first few years of its existence.
As for Ted, hmm. The voice sounds to me like a cross between Peter Griffin and Brian.

No shit, about the names. I'm glad to see Walberg not doing his usual tough guy thing.
Glad to see Seth not having to deal with TV censors. Glad that this actually made me smile.

I like MacFarlane, but this seems kind of dull. It felt like the whole premise is cussing = funny, which that thunder-go-away song wasn't. People compared this to Wilfred, and I can see that, but I also see a little bit of Paul in this; a raunchy,frat-boy like non-human, but this seems more in-your-face about it. Also, are we to assuem that in this movie's universe, living teddy bears are nothing to blink an eye at? That works in cartoons, but I don't think it will in live action. Do other people see Ted as a human? If so, that makes the whole idea of Ted kind of pointless. And hearing Peter/Brian's voice it pretty jarring. Hopefully this trailer is made for the “lol, he simulated fellacio with a candy bar” crowd, and the movie will be better.

I like to see Wahlberg returning to his acting foundations. He's a great comedy straight man, and there's not a lot of good ones around these days. (Although after pleasantly surprising me in 21 Jump Street, Channing Tatum might have found his new niche.)
And I swear Mila Kunis gets more gorgeous every year.

I'm annoyed that MacFarlane is basically giving Ted the same voice as Peter. I'm also annoyed that the movie seems to have exactly the kind of plot you'd expect it to have based on the premise.
It seems like their banking entirely on the comedy, and frankly, that's not enough to get me to see a movie. That's what I like about some of Judd Apatow's work. He makes funny movies, but the plots of those movies tend to actually go in unexpected directions. They tend to feel relatively organic.
This doesn't really look like my kind of movie.
But damn if that list of names thing wasn't really impressive.

Otherwise… Family Guy hasn't been funny since it was canceled.

“Hit and Miss” is a fairly generous description of MacFarlane. He started off as mostly hit, now he's mostly miss. I believe the correct term is “has-been”.
Personally. I'd like to see Seth drop the whole cartoon malarkey and become a full-time jazz singer. The bastard's got talent, and he's letting it go to waste. Music is Better Than Words (his album) has been in my car's CD player rotation for months now, and it won't be going anywhere for a while.

I definitely agree that MacFarlane can be hit and miss, but lately I've just kind of lost interest. I used to be a huge fan of Family Guy, but I just don't find the show that funny anymore. Namely because the show has resorted to repetitive jokes and cutting corners on the animation. That's not to say that Family guy doesn't get an occasional chuckle out of me, but overall I haven't been impressed.
American Dad had the opposite effect, I didn't care for it at first but it's kind of grown on me. I don't think it's great, but it's entertaining enough.
All that said, this movie… well, I don't know what to think of it. I can't say that it doesn't look funny, the cast is promising, and the lack of TV censors might work to MacFarlane's advantage. Still, given Seth's track record, I could easily see this one going either way. I'll reserve judgement until I see a bit more.

As for his other shows they are usually amazing at first, but then die by going to extreme imo for what its worth

It's very simple: if this is one of those trailers that spoiles the good jokes then the movie sucks. If on the contrary we haven't seen any of the good jokes yet it might be a great movie.

Poor McFarlane. he suffered the same backlash as Carlos Mencia and Dane Cook. Except unlike those two he has the volumes of material to back it up.
