"Sonic Fan-Film" New Trailer

You might remember Eddie LeBron and Blue Core Studios for their ambitious “Mega Man” fan-film a few years back. Shortly after that, they announced they were going to take a swing at “Sonic The Hedgehog;” and with the film’s release date apparently approaching (last I’d heard it was going to be a short instead of a feature) there’s a new trailer – and yes, that’s actually Jaleel White returning to voice Sonic:

oh god it's hideous! I have a house rule that bad green screen effects require you to take a shot, I feel like this movie would kill me, also MovieBob did they cast you as Robotnik?

Of all the problems the Mega Man film (and, despite enjoying it, I have to say it had many problems) the incredibly poorly done CGI effects were by far the worst. Even by no budget, fan project standards, the CGI was an eye-sore. I always wished he'd went with some form of puppetry instead (or at least browsed Devientart for a half-decent CGI artist).

From the trailer, the CGI looks to have had absolutely no improvement at all. While the models looks to be more accurate to the game, the textures, shading, and animation would have been an embarrassment 10 years ago.

Actually, this trailer was posted months ago.

And yes, we all know Jaleel White is playing Sonic again.

I can handle some shotty CGI so long is the acting improves from Megaman. God that was embarrassing. All the actors in that film, save for maybe Willy, looked like they were pulled off the street they were so bad.

People really need to not get bent out of shape over the CG. It's a low budget fan-film (and even then, I think the CG looks decent).

So, they're saying Summer, huh? Well, they better hurry, Summer's almost over.

I don't understand getting bent over shape over shotty cgi in a fan made film. It's more about the idea and concept then it is about making a memorable film at this stage.
To me it comes off as “hey this works, and has a lot of interest despite it's enormous limitations, why not give this a big budget attempt.”

    @ Crafty Andy

“I don't understand getting bent over shape over shotty cgi in a fan made film.”

Because being a “fan film” isn't an excuse. There are some fan films with AMAZING CGI out there. Just watch the Portal fan film some time.
