I'm not usually a fan of period films like this, but I may have to go see this, as it looks so awesome! It's also a bit unnerving how much Daniel Day-Lewis looks like Lincoln. Really good trailer. 🙂

The massive overuse of fade to black and scenes devoid of light and colour, and the insistent use of low-pitch booms as the scenes change, only to be replaced by a few occasional outdoor scenes that are meant to make you go, oh, this is beautiful as well as realistic…
This is exactly what I imagined would go down, and it is exactly what I got.
You made me realize just how predictable a trailer like this is, and how cheap some of the constructs used are…

Amazing… almost exactly what I imagined… I imagined the camera facing Lincoln's front and not back all the time but the lighting, the music were predictable to the note! Just amazing.

Being a huge civil war buff, I REALLY can't wait to see this movie. From the trailer it looks like they're risking over emphasizing how much Lincoln felt for the plight of the slaves, but this is obviously taking place towards the end of the war where he was clearly going through crisis of conscious… they shouldn't over emphasize it though because it was the politics of it that made it a viable option (and one that he wasn't a trailblazer on, the congress had enacted something similar on a smaller scale)
Though I really hope that they don't have a random black soldier walk by his tent and just preach out the Gettysburg address… that'ld just be too cheesy, I'm hoping in context that makes more sense like he was having a dream or something. But even still it doesn't make much sense, it's well documented that Lincoln spent time writing the speech on his trip from Washington to Gettysburg and that he actually wasn't all that excited about the speech itself till he saw that others loved it. Either way can't wait for this movie. Not enough people realize the importance of the civil war on American history.

I just hope they go for a historically accurate depiction of Lincoln, since that's what they're dressing it up to be.
Too many people already think that Lincoln was a righteous crusader against slavery. He wasn't, it was just a tool to unite the north behind a cause to create a morale boost and not give up to end the bloodshed. Lincoln didn't really give two shits either way about the fate of slaves. Having a realistic looking movie propagate the romanticized version and not the real version of Lincoln will be aggravating.
