Sally Menke, whose name you’d BETTER have known as the Academy Award nominated film editor of essentially Quentin Tarantino’s entire filmography (and of the first “Ninja Turtles” movie!), has died at age 56.
The death was apparently the result of a hiking accident. Awful, awful news.
Damn… if Tarantino and the camera crew didn't have every cut planned down to the millisecond, then she must have been one of the greatest film editors in Hollywood.

Great, just what I needed to cap off one of the hardest and most trying weeks of my life. There are no words. I seriously don't know how QT is going to recover from this given that he has gone on record in stating Sally was his greatest collaborator…
btw, a minor nitpick: Sally sadly never won an Academy Award, she just got the nomination for Pulp Fiction and Inglorious Basterds

@peter
That's why it says “Academy Award Nominated” and not winner.

Rest in Peace Sally, I can't imagine how her family and Tarantino feel

I saw her interviewed in “Visions of Light” (at least I'm pretty sure that was it, or a documentary on film editing). I recall her being not only very close to Tarantino, but a joy to listen to oan the art of editing and arranging. She will be missed greatly.

@akkuma
Bob had written “Academy Award winning” originally.
