Probably one of my favorite cartoons.
As a kid, I couldn't understand why my parents liked watching the Warner Bros. cartoons with us (Freakazoid, Animaniacs, Tiny Toons).

Years later I watched reruns and realized it's because they're laced with tons of adult humor and innuendo.

Anyway, I'd like to see you do an episode on one of my other favorite cartoons, Pirates of Dark Water.

Awesome retrospective and a perfect subject for the 100th episode.

Although, as has been pointed out before, it ruins the Candle Jack joke when you

Man I really should seek this out on DVD. Seems like it's right up my alley. Congrats on 100 episodes too! It's a fantastic series! Also, I kinda knew you'd finish the episode with a Candle Jack joke, but

    Freakazoid. YES!

This of the Spielberg cartoons was my favorite. I love it. I'm very glad I got this on dvd.

My only sad memory, is that it didn't last for more than 2 seasons.

    Sigh.

Still, I'm very glad I got to know this show. It's 4th wall breaking, zany, meta-humor before it was all the norm.

Why it's good? It was ahead of its time.

Great on the retrospective, Bob. Coolness!

One of my favorite things about Freakazoid is that they did a parody of the Crawling Eye, the movie featured in the first episode of MST3k.

    I'm a nerd.

    Great episode, Bob.

I'd like to humbly request, at some point when you can work it into your schedule, a Big Picture episode on Johnny Bravo. I was in university at the time, so I never really watched it. But I get the sense it was an important bridge between early self-aware/satirical “kiddie” stuff like Animaniacs and Freakazoid and the Adult Swim roster and I'd love to see a full-blown analysis.

Very good episode. If Freakazoid embodies the spirit of the internet and what it has become, I think it's funny that Cosgrove takes him so seriously. As an authority figure and an old man (two groups often characterized as being prejudiced resistant to change), it's odd that he is such good friends with Freakazoid. If anyone should find Freakazoid's attitude and self of humor off-putting and unrelatable, it should be Cosgrove.

And starring Weena Mercator as the Hopping Woman.

I consider it a peculiar (and only half-serious) point of pride that I kind of got “Freakazoid!” while I was still in the age group it was ostensibly aimed at. I mean, it doesn't require a large amount of sophistication to find Ricardo Montalban bellowing “I AM NOT A WEENIE, YOU ARE THE WEENIE!”, but even so….

I honestly can't remember that much about Freakazoid. All I can remember is that he hated poo gas and something about chimpanzee in the opening song. If it's on Netflix, I'll check it out.

Oh yeah, I also remember Candlejack. He was
