Orcas are horrible creatures. Seriously, they're like the only animal outside of cats that regularly and pointlessly tortures its prey for enjoyment.
They're intelligent, they're vicious, and they are mean.
And, as we've seen, vicously pro-life. They take orcabortion very seriously. In fact, they're generally straight-ticket republican, making them all the more terrifying.
I somehow saw this movie in the mid-80's, and as 5 year old it made QUITE an impression. I had a bunch of very specific images about Orcas in my mind, but not a lot of context behind how they got there. I was very happy to find it on Netflix streaming earlier this year, and revisit it. Great movie… that I might have to watch again.
I've always passed by this movie in old video stores and just wrote it off as a Jaws rip-off and nothing else. I'm glad to be proven wrong. I will definitely look this up. Thanks, Bob.
Hoo boy. I remember seeing this movie once on the Sci-Fi channel if I remember right. It was either that or another one sometime within the last five or six years. I remember seeing that scene with the miscarriage of the orca baby and it being very unsettling. Very unsettling. Though the Orca father had the right to seek revenge against the guy who killed it's mate and child, I couldn't help but to think when I was watching it at the time that it should of been killed too somehow at the film's end.
